Check your calendars. It’s late February, we’re stuck between winter and spring and we’re cranky. Nothing happens in February. This whole month is just filled with snowstorms, melting snow, and…well, that’s pretty much it. In honor of this empty time of year, we’re putting together some of our favorite reasons why sometimes, doing nothing is the best thing you can do.
Stop and Simmer
We’ve all had it happen. You get an email that’s filled with edits or complaints or a “tone.” Here’s our advice: sit on it for 24 hours. Believe it or not, walking away and doing nothing is a great way to process anything that’s got you fired up. Take a second to chill out and calm down. Once you’ve got yourself together and you’ve taken several deep breaths then tackle the email – kill ‘em with kindness.
Get a Brain Break
The hustle of life can wear you out. It’s important to take little breaks to maintain sanity. Stand up from your desk, pet a dog, take a walk outside, meet a friend for lunch, just do something or nothing (get it). Those brain breaks can help you stop burnout in its tracks.
Just Do Nothing
Be bored, it’s something we should all pursue more often. Doing nothing leads to doing something better. Man, we are killing this blog theme. When you give yourself a chance to do nothing, your brain starts to subconsciously work through a whole bunch of your problems. Turn off your phone and go stare at a wall, your brain will thank us.
Speaking of nothing, are you ready to hang out with the coolest cats in town? RSVP for our Nothing Party and come and do, well, nothing.
