Getting Mindful at Work

Share This Post:

Are you stressed? With all the talk about coronavirus, the craziness of balancing schedules, and more, you’re probably about to lose your mind, aren’t you? Well, you’re not alone. Life can get crazy. We know that just as well as anyone. That’s why we’re coming up with ways you can practice mindfulness in your office. Sit back, breathe, and feel better.

Preview Your Day

It turns out that the secret to a great day starts the night before. Who would have thought? Prep yourself by checking out your schedule the day before. When you get ready for bed and pick out your outfit (you do plan your outfits, right?) it will save you the time of making the decision in the morning and you’ll feel prepared when you wake up. Got it? Good. Now go crush it.

Breathe

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, this is an easy way to put things in perspective. There are a bunch of different kinds of breath, all depending on what outcome you want, from energizing breaths to ones that relax you.
Here’s a simple one you can use to help you focus and relieve stress:

  • Breathe in for five seconds.
  • Hold your breath for five seconds.
  • Exhale for five seconds.
  • Don’t breathe for five more seconds.
  • Repeat!

Give it a try right now. Do it three times and really focus on your breath. You’ll feel better. We know it.

Relax

It’s easy to say, isn’t it? Really, though. We carry so much more tension in our bodies than we’re aware of at any given moment.
Want to feel better? Try this out:

  • Relax the muscles in your toes and feet.
  • Relax your calves.
  • Relax your thighs. Stop clenching.
  • Straighten your spine. Imagine a string pulling you by the top of your head
  • Relax your shoulders
  • Unclench your jaw.
  • Relax your tongue (it’s probably on the roof of your mouth right now. Let it rest.)
  • Soften your gaze.
  • Take a few seconds to feel relaxed.

And then get back to work. See? Total reset. It’s magic.

Get Out of There

Do you have a lunch break? What about time after work? A lot of people think they’re busy, but there are little moments you can carve out for yourself. Set a timer for ten minutes and put your phone down. Then go ahead and close your eyes. Try meditating. You can even try to do a few yoga poses in the ten minutes you have. It won’t take a lot of time out of your day, but you’ll feel amazing as soon as you’re done.

Need a team that’ll help you relax? What about a marketing agency that won’t stress you out? You’ve found us. Let’s get started.

We put everything business owners, employees, and educators told us on the wall, and guess what... yeah, some of it was mean.

The point is, everyone is saying it about each other, not to each other, and nothing is getting fixed that way.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to have the Uncomfortable Conversation on the skills crisis, and whether you were there or not, let us know what the next one should be.

Defense and manufacturing run on precision, protocols, and deadlines. When a team miscommunicates... things slip, and the cost adds up.
