Let’s Party

We like to ‘get down, get down,’ which is why we LOVE events. There is nothing better than creating a kickass theme and inviting all your friends, co-workers and clients to hang at your office while enjoying boozie watermelon slushies and engaging in a friendly game of champagne bong.
You, too, can reap the rewards of a great party on a budget. Here’s the deal: bringing people together is kind of our specialty and throwing amazing parties is just another way to do it.
Lucky for you, we’re sharing our secret sauce on party-planning.

Get Creative

Our past events have included a S’moiree, Basic Betches, a Nothing Celebration and a Harvest, Spirits and Social. The community is overrun with events, especially in the Fall and Winter. If you want people to show up to your gathering, you’ve gotta give them a good reason.
Whether it is making s’mores indoors, sitting outside by an inflatable pool or wearing PJs and drinking hot chocolate, all of our events have one thing in common – they’re unique.
Being creative doesn’t need to cost you a fortune. All of our events stay under $500 and that includes decorations, food, booze and a takeaway. (Speaking of, have you snagged one of our sweet Bendiware wine glasses?)

Give them an experience

Have you ever been to a party where you’ve walked in and had no idea where to go? First impressions matter, and that starts the minute anyone walks through your door…before, in fact. If you are frustrated trying to find parking or the directions to the venue are shitty, you’re already pissed off before you even get there. The experience is in the details.
Never skip:

  • Directional signage
  • Bathroom signage
  • Step-by-step directions to the venue
  • A clear traffic flow for registration, bar, food, games, etc.
  • Greeters – station staff by the door to make every visitor feel welcome

Tell People

If you plan to throw an awesome shindig, then you’ve gotta tell people. Write up some funny copy, design a badass graphic and then share, share, share:

  • Create an event on your company Facebook page, and encourage staff to invite their contacts.
  • Write a blog (like this amazing one) on why people should attend your event. Hint: Give them wine glasses.
  • Send an email, preferably through MailChimp. Does anyone even use Constant Contact anymore? If you do, stop and contact our digital dude. We can get you updated to the current century.
  • If you are feeling really crazy, send a snail mail invite. We mean, people like mail. It makes them feel important.
  • Personally invite your clients, colleagues and other important people.

Our last piece of advice is the most important: hire us for all your party-planning needs. We’re really good at it and those holiday parties are right around the corner. Don’t be afraid to get in touch!

Something on Your Mind?

We put everything business owners, employees, and educators told us on the wall, and guess what... yeah, some of it was mean.

The point is, everyone is saying it about each other, not to each other, and nothing is getting fixed that way.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to have the Uncomfortable Conversation on the skills crisis, and whether you were there or not, let us know what the next one should be.

Defense and manufacturing run on precision, protocols, and deadlines. When a team miscommunicates... things slip, and the cost adds up.

Kim will be at the Michigan Defense Expo in Detroit on May 13 to talk about the Hard Cost of Soft Skills (or as we call them, survival skills) and what we can all do about it.

We always say work smarter, which means bringing in expertise you don't have and hiring people who make your team more complete.

That's what Kim Bode said in a recent @fastcompany article on building sustainability into your business.
