Celebrating Trans Accomplishments and Victories

Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) is celebrated annually around the world on March 31 and is dedicated to the accomplishments and victories of trans and gender non-conforming people, all while raising awareness of the work that is still needed to save trans lives. This year, The Grand Rapids Pride Center and Grand Rapids Trans Foundation felt that one day is not enough, so they decided to extend the celebration from March 23rd to March 31st with a variety of events around Grand Rapids.
An estimated 41% of all trans-identified individuals attempt suicide, compared to less than 2% of the rest of the population. Transgender people face struggles in various forms, from anxiety and dysphoria, to violence and bullying. 8THIRTYFOUR recognizes the problems trans-identified individuals face every day, and we commend The Grand Rapids Pride Center and Grand Rapids Trans Foundation for dedicating a whole week to the trans community. We’re with you and will be participating all week. A list of events is listed below so you can come participate with us.

Something on Your Mind?

Running 8THIRTYFOUR on EOS has allowed our team to find consistency in what we do and given us a framework to hold each other accountable.

It's why @bodespeaks highlighted it in her latest @fastcompany contribution.

We put everything business owners, employees, and educators told us on the wall, and guess what... yeah, some of it was mean.

The point is, everyone is saying it about each other, not to each other, and nothing is getting fixed that way.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to have the Uncomfortable Conversation on the skills crisis, and whether you were there or not, let us know what the next one should be.

Defense and manufacturing run on precision, protocols, and deadlines. When a team miscommunicates... things slip, and the cost adds up.

Kim will be at the Michigan Defense Expo in Detroit on May 13 to talk about the Hard Cost of Soft Skills (or as we call them, survival skills) and what we can all do about it.

We always say work smarter, which means bringing in expertise you don't have and hiring people who make your team more complete.
