YWCA and Boys & Girls Club – In the House

We heart Biggby.
We heart Biggby.

Jimmy and I welcomed a pretty great crew to the studio this morning that included YWCA and Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids.
Every 4th Friday starts out with coffee, dogs and laughs when Shelley Irwin & 834 get together for #YourBizYourTown on WGVU Radio, 88.5 FM. We discuss some heavy topics at times and always share with you important happenings and nonprofit missions…in hopes you will get involved and give back. After all, it is what makes our community great.
YWCA
The YWCA West Central Michigan offers services that support victims of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and stalking, as well as prevention programs for girls 9-18 years old. Their mission is important in our community as violence against women continues to rise.
There are many ways to support this great organization and their upcoming Open Circle luncheon is one way. The YWCA’s Open Circle luncheon is designed to powerfully highlight the impact of personal philanthropy in the lives of women and girls. This invitation-only luncheon fundraiser includes both men and women, traditionally features a moving testimonial by an individual whose life has been positively changed by the YWCA, and offers guests the opportunity to significantly support critical YWCA services.

Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids
The organizations is dedicated to enabling all young people to reach their full potential as responsible citizens through education, recreation, and other positive community experiences in partnership with the Grand Rapids Police Department.
Join them for their Youth of Year program on February 26.  Established in 1947, Youth of the Year is BGCA’s premier recognition program for Club members, promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. The program is most effective when used as a year-round tool for fostering young people’s character, personal growth and leadership qualities.
