Focusing on relationships – Your Biz, Your Town

Share This Post:

Today’s Your Biz, Your Town segment on WGVU’s Morning Show with Shelley Irwin was focused on small businesses and the importance of building and maintaining relationships. Shelley and I had the pleasure of chatting with 2 very interesting local entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Fettig, formerly Ameritemp Staffing has existed in our community since 199 and recently rebranded this past year to better represent their expanded services, location and culture. Fettig’s strategy is to focus on great recruiters because that  means better placements for our clients and applicants. Their goal is to make sure that their culture, compensation, and benefits ensure that their Team Members want to be a part of the team and remain passionate in what they do. Check them out.

Another business has recently launched in Grand Rapids called, Paramount Realty Partners. Owner, Chad Koster has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry and in 2012 decided to take that experience and launch a new kind of residential real estate business that specializes in relationships, innovative selling solutions and a concierge approach.

They know that you have enough to keep you busy during the day without worrying about the intricacies of the real estate market in greater Grand Rapids, or the day-to-day movement of the lending industry.  Check them out.

As a small business owner myself, I understand how important developing and maintaining relationships with your community, clients and local media can be. I applaud these two businesses and their unique approach to customer service and their focus on building a great internal culture that nurtures their employees and is warm and welcoming to their clients

Keep up the great work and thanks for making Grand Rapids your home.

We put everything business owners, employees, and educators told us on the wall, and guess what... yeah, some of it was mean.

The point is, everyone is saying it about each other, not to each other, and nothing is getting fixed that way.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to have the Uncomfortable Conversation on the skills crisis, and whether you were there or not, let us know what the next one should be.

Defense and manufacturing run on precision, protocols, and deadlines. When a team miscommunicates... things slip, and the cost adds up.

Kim will be at the Michigan Defense Expo in Detroit on May 13 to talk about the Hard Cost of Soft Skills (or as we call them, survival skills) and what we can all do about it.

@bodespeaks will be talking to @sheleadssocietymi on May 21 about Big Deal Energyâ„¢ and what it means to own what makes you - you.

Don't let mediocre men tell you you're too much. That's on them.

We always say work smarter, which means bringing in expertise you don't have and hiring people who make your team more complete.

That's what Kim Bode said in a recent @fastcompany article on building sustainability into your business.
