Hosted by Kim Bode | An event of the SBAM Women’s Business Council
Odds are, if you’re a woman going through perimenopause and menopause, you didn’t hear the term from your mom, maybe caught it from a friend, and likely learned it for the first time from a doctor who wasn’t exactly forthcoming about what hell it actually is for your body.
Perimenopause can start as early as your 30s and hang out for a decade or more. It’s a hormonal rollercoaster that rewires your brain, hijacks your body, and shows up uninvited at work, at home, and everywhere in between. The rage, the brain fog, the exhaustion, the pain, the unpredictability of it all is something most of us are hearing about for the first time. The impact is felt by your teams, businesses, and the people around you who don’t acknowledge, understand, or realize the seriousness of it.Â
This Uncomfortable Conversation is about what perimenopause and menopause looks like, what women need to know, what legal accommodations employers are required to make, and what all of this means for business owners and the people who work for them. This isn’t just a women’s health issue; it’s a workplace issue, a business issue, and a conversation that is long overdue.
