Copper Peak

Reaching for New Heights: A Brand Case Study

Standing at an astounding 469 feet in the historic outskirts of Ironwood, Michigan, Copper Peak is the highest man-made ski jump in the world. Completed in 1969, this landmark has set world records.

While ski jumping at Copper Peak has been on pause since 1994, the landmark hasn’t lost its charm. Their Adventure Ride keeps the spirit alive, offering summer visitors a chance to experience the thrill of the height. On a clear day, you might even catch a glimpse of Canada from the top.

A Copper Peak Comeback

With a $20 million grant from the State of Michigan, Copper Peak hopes to restore its historic legacy to a modern one. 8THIRTYFOUR is dedicated to helping Copper Peak through this transition and ensuring Adventure Ride visitors have all the information accessible through Copper Peak’s website. While Copper Peak awaits updates from the State of Michigan, we’ve been busy behind the scenes.

Our Kickass Work

For a Copper Peak refresh, we knew working on core pieces of their digital footprint would improve their brand awareness online. Here is a rundown of what we did:

  • Redesigned Copper Peak’s website for a more user-friendly interface and updated compliance.
    • Accessibility compliance enhances your digital brand awareness by demonstrating inclusivity and expanding your reach to a wider audience, including those with disabilities, which can lead to improved reputation and increased user engagement.
  • Updated information regarding the future of Copper Peak and visitor information.
    • Through improving content clarity we helped build more brand recall and engagement in their digital channels.
  • Fresh new look to pull in adventure seekers everywhere.
    • Let’s face it- who doesn’t love a fresh new brand? Through polishing and elevating their brand appearance, we helped drive more of their target audience to their digital channels.

The Impact

We don’t make things pretty just because it is fun- there is always data supporting why visual improvement helps your brand. One month after launch, there has been noticeable growth across all channels. Though we know we were just scratching the surface with this brand, the data speaks for itself. When you see numbers like this out of the gate- you know the brand is set up for success.

Plus, look at this brand facelift!

Increase in traffic means increased brand awareness- which gives valuable insight the big picture of a brand’s success online. We love to see growth- it means we know our shit!

Engagement improvement will exponentially increase availability in motivation to build long-term business growth. The more people who stay engaged means the more cash you could see in your pocket.

So why would a 2% increase matter? This means that the brand positioning within the site improved in a way that drove curiosity. This is a big deal! It means more people will come back to this brand overtime. That is investing in the long-term future of a brand.

People are finding this site without the brand paying for it! This means a higher return on investment and ultimately business growth. This happens through thorough keywording and compliance with all the best practices in the web design world.

So there you go, investing in pretty things can impact a brand in big ways. Ensuring website compliance is equally important to a website refresh- you can see that in the data.

Feel free to reach out to us for expert assistance with your upcoming website update.

We do know our shit. The proof is in the data.

The power of the Women's Entrepreneurial Fellowship, in a graduate's own words:

"Growth is never accidental, it comes from being willing to learn, adapt, and embrace change. After nine months of dedication, reflection, and business development, I proudly graduated from the Women's Entrepreneurial Fellowship (WEF) during the Small Business Association of Michigan Annual Meeting.

Throughout the program, I challenged myself to evaluate every aspect of my business, celebrating what was working while identifying opportunities for growth and improvement. The journey was made even more meaningful through the support of an incredible cohort of women entrepreneurs, the guidance of mentor Gina Jacquart Thorsen, and the leadership of bodespeaks and her team.

A sincere thank you to smallbusinessassocofmichigan for investing in second-stage women business owners and creating opportunities that empower entrepreneurs to build stronger, more sustainable businesses."

— Mary A. Barton, President and CEO of Equitable Accounting Solutions and proud WEF graduate.

"Out of failure comes growth – you have to see it as an opportunity."

bodespeaks joined cuzzinjustin on the strictlyfromnowhere Podcast for an honest conversation about entrepreneurship, embracing your superpowers, and building a personal brand that's actually yours, the wins, the setbacks, and everything in between. And naturally, dropped an f-bomb or two along the way. You don't want to miss it.

"If you don't get up and grind every day, the needle isn't gonna move."

We sat down with brandonmccraney, founder and Master Blender behind olderaleighdistillery in Zebulon, North Carolina. Brandon spent fifteen years just thinking about whiskey before he finally opened his doors, and even then it took four more years, a dozen rejections, construction delays, and a global pandemic to get there. Two years later, Olde Raleigh had already won Best Micro Distillery in the US.

Check out the latest episode of Happy Hour Hustle, where Brandon shares what it actually took to grow a business through COVID, the military discipline that kept him going when everything else said quit, and how working with people turned out to be the hardest part of the job.
