Celebrating the Power of Small Business

A cartoon skyline features text that reads, "It's time to celebrate the power of small business."

We love a lot of things at 8THIRTYFOUR, but if we were pushed to give a Top 5 List, it would probably look like:

  1. Dogs
  2. Wine
  3. Coffee
  4. Parties
  5. Small Businesses

That last one might be a bit of a surprise, but we really do LOVE small businesses. We love them because they’re pretty super. Small businesses:

  • Employ 1.8 million people in Michigan alone
  • Makeup 50.2% of the private workforce (in 2013)
  • Comprise 99.7 percent of all employer firms in the U.S
  • Generate three-fifths of net new jobs, driving a big share of U.S. employment growth.

Clearly, small businesses are pretty powerful! They run our economy, and are led by hardworking people who are creative and passionate.
It’s in this spirit that we are excited to share that we are combining a lot of our Top 5 List and hosting the party of the year to celebrate the Power of Small Business.

Save the Date

When: January 18th, 4:00-8:00pm
Where: Our Office (1430 Monroe Ave NW, Suite 170)
Theme: The Power of Small Business
Why: Because we can. And, to celebrate the amazing power of small businesses. (Also, see the 4th thing we love).
We can’t wait for the chance to show off our new office, enjoy treats and drinks from our favorite small businesses in Grand Rapids, and celebrate the superpowers that drive Michigan’s small businesses.
So, dust off your cape (yes, capes are encouraged) watch the mail for your invite and hold the date. It’s time to show off your superpower.
