What We’re Looking Forward to in 2017

We’re closing up shop on 2016 and looking ahead to what 2017 has in store. Between special happenings for our clients and events we support in our non-work lives, the year’s first few months are looking busy. Take a peek at the things Team 834 is looking forward to in the new year.

City Built Brewing Company

Our client, Honor Construction, has had a huge hand in the development of City Built Brewing Company. We’re waiting with anticipation for the brewery’s official opening date, which will be announced soon. Located in the rapidly growing North Monroe business district, City Built’s menu will be Puerto Rican inspired and its beer will be made with nontraditional ingredients.

CMURC

CMURC is a business incubator site located in Mt. Pleasant… until now. CMURC is expanding to Bay City in early 2017, where it will have 5,000 square feet for businesses to occupy.

Shefit’s new bra

The next bra is on its way! We’ve loved being along for the ride of our client, Shefit. From Shark Tank to new bra developments, watching the company’s growth has been a blast. In 2017, Shefit is releasing its Ultimate Sports Bra Generation 3. Feedback from customers were integrated into the upgrade, which includes modified fabric, new color offerings, a more lightweight feel and revised sizing options.

GROW Connects Series

These once-a-month workshops will focus on topics that are specific to business owners and people who are interested in starting their own business. The kickoff is Jan. 26 and is hosted by Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women. Monthly topics include continuity, promoting your business, legal aspects, being strategic while growing, financing options and running a business confidently.

AMA Survived the Holidays – Panels & Pints

Sometimes you just need to get together with a bunch of people and celebrate surviving the holiday season. AMA West Michigan is hosting Survived the Holidays – Panels & Pints on Jan. 24 at Grand Rapids Brewing Company. Grab a beer and regroup while listening to marketing leaders from area breweries, distilleries and cideries.

It's why @bodespeaks highlighted it in her latest @fastcompany contribution.

We put everything business owners, employees, and educators told us on the wall, and guess what... yeah, some of it was mean.

The point is, everyone is saying it about each other, not to each other, and nothing is getting fixed that way.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to have the Uncomfortable Conversation on the skills crisis, and whether you were there or not, let us know what the next one should be.

Defense and manufacturing run on precision, protocols, and deadlines. When a team miscommunicates... things slip, and the cost adds up.

Kim will be at the Michigan Defense Expo in Detroit on May 13 to talk about the Hard Cost of Soft Skills (or as we call them, survival skills) and what we can all do about it.

@bodespeaks will be talking to @sheleadssocietymi on May 21 about Big Deal Energy™ and what it means to own what makes you - you.

Don't let mediocre men tell you you're too much. That's on them.

We always say work smarter, which means bringing in expertise you don't have and hiring people who make your team more complete.

That's what Kim Bode said in a recent @fastcompany article on building sustainability into your business.
