Rage is Power: The Fight for Democracy

A crown on a donkey's ass in front of the White House

Female rage isn’t just a trending topic—it’s a reckoning. And now, in 2025, it’s not just women. It’s LGBTQIA+ people, Black and brown communities, Indigenous activists, immigrants, disabled advocates, workers—every marginalized group is staring down an administration that wants them erased.

When I wrote about this in 2023, it was building. Now? It’s exploding. And it damn well should be.

We Were Warned, And Yet Here We Are

Let’s take stock of the absolute dumpster fire we’re living in:

  • Trump is back, Musk is calling the shots, and democracy is barely breathing.
  • The Department of Health and Human Services just redefined sex to erase transgender identities from legal protections. They’re not just attacking rights; they’re denying existence.
  • Project 2025 isn’t a conspiracy theory—it’s happening in real-time. The Heritage Foundation handed us a 900-page roadmap for dismantling women’s rights, LGBTQIA+ protections, and democracy itself. And Trump’s regime is executing it step-by-step.
  • RFK Jr., a vaccine conspiracy nut, is now in charge of health policy. The man who spent years spreading anti-science nonsense is literally shaping federal health decisions.
  • Musk is running a shadow government through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), slashing federal programs with zero oversight. Women, queer people, Black and brown communities, working-class families—if you’re not a billionaire, you’re collateral damage.
  • Racism is baked into every single one of these policies. Voting rights? Under attack. Policing? More militarized than ever. Immigration? Border policies are crueler than they’ve ever been. And if you’re Black, Indigenous, or a person of color, the message is clear: this administration doesn’t care if you live or die.

So why the hell are people acting surprised?

Trump Isn’t Even Running the Show—And That’s What Really Burns Him

If you really want to piss off Trump, don’t call him a fascist (he likes that). Don’t talk about his legal battles (he thrives on being the victim). No—mock his weakness.

Because let’s be real: Musk is the one calling the shots.

Look at the Time Magazine cover. Look at Musk behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. If you don’t think that eats Trump alive, you haven’t been paying attention.

  • Musk has the power.
  • Musk has the money.
  • Musk has the final say.

Trump is just the face of the operation—the loud, sloppy distraction while Musk guts the government.

So @WhiteHouse, @POTUS, @realDonaldTrump—tell us: Who's actually running this country?

Because it sure as hell isn't you, Donnie.

Take Back the Power

They have rigged the system, stacked the deck, and expect us to stay quiet. We won’t. This is our country, our rights, our future—and we will not let them take it from us. We fight back now, together. Call, protest, vote, disrupt.

We are not waiting for permission. We are not asking nicely. We are taking back what’s ours.

You (Yes, you) Have Influence

Right now, there are a lot of people tuning it all out. They may be your parents, your friends, your brother. People who love and trust you. Maybe they don’t want to hear the constant stream of bullshit from social media or deal with the stress of turning on the news each night, but they may just listen to you.

Outside of the power to raise your voice to your lawmakers, you also have the power to be a voice of reason and influence to those in your personal sphere. We’re not saying you have to berate them every day (please, don’t do that). But you can also make sure they aren’t becoming complacent, and that they are aware of the impact these things will have on them.

You may not feel like you have power up against the most powerful on the largest stage, but you sure as hell have power in your life, and the lives you touch. Use it.

Something on Your Mind?

If you ever need proof that personal brand matters...Kim got to see the @nasaartemis II launch in person as a direct result of her Big Deal Energy™.

You need to work hard, show up authentically, and provide value. That was her message to a room full of students and young professionals at @western_michigan_pmi's theProject Collegiate Competition.

The Big Deal Energy™ Workshop is on June 23. Register at the link in bio.
Employers think Gen Z is lazy, entitled, and will quit the second things get hard. That perception is keeping you out of the room before you ever get a chance to prove otherwise.

The good news is, you can flip the script, but it will take some serious work and a personal brand, or as Kim Bode refers to it: Big Deal Energy™.

Kim is speaking at theProject™ Collegiate Event, hosted by the Project Management Institute Western Michigan Chapter on April 14. She'll cover how to build a personal brand that actually sounds like you (not ChatGPT) and how you can show your value through social, content and networking.

No one talks about how lonely it is to own a business. The tough decisions land on you, the business doesn't pause when you need a break, and nobody - not your employees or your spouse - really gets it.

If you know a business owner, tell them they're doing a good job. It matters more than you know.
The growth stage is the hardest part of building a business.

Kim was recently quoted in @corpmagazine on what she sees running the Women's Entrepreneurial Fellowship: women who have built something, survived the hardest part, and are still doing everything themselves. The natural tendency to be humble and attached to their work creates unique business challenges for women; they put up walls because they can't be vulnerable.

Meanwhile, when a woman CEO needs growth capital, she compiles three years of tax returns before a bank will schedule a meeting, while her male competitor closes the same deal over drinks.

When women have access to the right resources, they grow and invest back. Full article at the link in bio.
