Our Favorite Fall Activities

A background of fall leaves in orange, red, and brown, with text "Our Favorite Fall Activities."

WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR FALL!!! Every fall, we share our favorite activities, this isn’t a blog you ever ask for, but we simply do not care. We are obsessed with fall, and considering the 90-degree temps we’ve been experiencing, we bet you’re ready to think about cool crisp air and the smell of fallen leaves.

So…for your reading pleasure, we present fall activities and food for fall activities. We had to add the latter because we are always thinking about food.

Activities

  • Fall is the perfect time for long outdoorsy walks. Pack up the dogs and bring them along for a bit of fresh air (for yourself, too, of course). They will love it, and you don’t have to worry about being a sweaty mess.
  • Bonfires! Fall weather is perfect for an evening bonfire. You get beautiful sunny days, but everything cools off at night. There is nothing better than sitting around a fire with good friends, drinks and all your s’more making materials.
  • Rocky Horror Picture Show Viewing (Shadow Cast preferred a must.) Is it really fall without this obligatory entry into spooky season? Campy, wild and fun, even if you’ve seen it a million times, Rocky Horror is a verified cult classic. This 1975 musical comedy horror film (Yes, that’s a real genre.) has an incomparable charm all its own. I suggest dressing up, snagging a prop kit, definitely a drink or two, and strapping in for the ride. You’ve never seen Rocky Horror? Don’t be scared. Catch an outdoor viewing at The Circle Theatre this September through October.
  • Fall camping! You can have all the best fall things while camping: bonfires, Halloween-themed activities, cider, walks and partaking in doughnuts. How can it get any better?
  • Fall wouldn’t be complete without a little Cosmic Horror™ in your life. It’s time to pull out some of the classics by writers like Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft or manga by Junji Ito. Don’t forget Frankenstein and Dracula, as well as a slew of great contemporary horror writers.
  • Get your scare on with movies like John Carpenter’s The Thing, Hellraiser, and Halloween (Jamie Lee, you sexy beast).
  • Pending the safety of social events, a classic American fall activity is tailgating! Whether you are actually there to cheer on the sports team of your choosing, be that your alma mater’s homecoming game or a major league event, tailgating brings together some of the best things fall has to offer! Those, of course being: the great outdoors, food and games! Oh, we totally forgot the beverages…that is actually the best part!

Food & Mood Setting

  • Don’t hate on the basic vibes, because who doesn’t love a good apple orchard/cider/donut experience? Don’t even get us started on a pumpkin patch. As long as it’s not a crisp 95°, you can wear some flannel or have a boots and sweater moment to capitalize on a perfect instagrammable fall day.
  • Bonfires! Fall weather is perfect for an evening bonfire. You get beautiful sunny days, but everything cools off at night. There is nothing better than sitting around a fire with good friends, drinks and all your s’more making materials.
  • Here’s our thing with fall: sometimes you’re ready for autumn, but it’s like 90 degrees outside. Solution? Grab a pot, toss some cinnamon sticks, orange slices, vanilla extract, and some water in it. Get that thing boiling, and your house will smell like fall in no time, regardless of what’s going on outside.

Don’t forget to invite Team 8THIRTYFOUR to your upcoming fall soirees, we always bring the good time.
