Focus on Community

One of 8THIRTYFOUR’s strongest assets is our vast network of clients, partners, community leaders, friends, family…the list goes on. We know this will be our saving grace in the coming months as we adjust to our new norm and we grieve what our community has lost.

It’s easy to focus on the negative right now with staggering unemployment numbers, people getting sick and dying, healthcare workers putting it all on the line to protect us and stories of businesses going under. We all know someone that has been affected by this pandemic. It’s disheartening, to say the least, and we are all feeling pretty damn helpless.

We will persevere.

We don’t have the answers, but we want to encourage you to focus on community. Our community will come out of this stronger. Stories are already emerging of neighbors helping neighbors and companies stepping up to supply much-needed PPE. We are stronger than this, and we will get through this.

Focus on the positive, and take these words of encouragement, humor and inspiration to heart. Thank you to all the community voices who pitched in and contributed. We love you and we will continue to support you in any way we can.

So we can continue to share uplifting stories, we encourage you to tag 8THIRTYFOUR in any social media posts and also use the hashtag #834CommunityCares.

We put everything business owners, employees, and educators told us on the wall, and guess what... yeah, some of it was mean.

The point is, everyone is saying it about each other, not to each other, and nothing is getting fixed that way.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to have the Uncomfortable Conversation on the skills crisis, and whether you were there or not, let us know what the next one should be.

Defense and manufacturing run on precision, protocols, and deadlines. When a team miscommunicates... things slip, and the cost adds up.

Kim will be at the Michigan Defense Expo in Detroit on May 13 to talk about the Hard Cost of Soft Skills (or as we call them, survival skills) and what we can all do about it.

@bodespeaks will be talking to @sheleadssocietymi on May 21 about Big Deal Energy™ and what it means to own what makes you - you.

Don't let mediocre men tell you you're too much. That's on them.

Come to the talk, it'll be fun. Link in bio.
We always say work smarter, which means bringing in expertise you don't have and hiring people who make your team more complete.

That's what Kim Bode said in a recent @fastcompany article on building sustainability into your business.
