20140829_091837We know that Friday is essentially the start of a long holiday weekend. We hope a few of you tuned in this a.m. to Your Biz Your Town as Shelley Irwin and myself chatted with the American Marketing Association of West Michigan, GR GiveCamp and the Faith Marie Losee Foundation talking about the upcoming Oktoberfest race.
A quick reminder on why we host #YourBizYourTown on the 4th Friday of every month on The WGVU Morning Show with Shelley Irwin. Our goal through Your Biz Your Town is to share local happenings, networking events, volunteer opportunities, nonprofit stories and local businesses doing great things in #GRMI. If you know of someone that has a story to share, contact us at ki*@*******gn.com.
As always, thanks to our amazing guests. Oh yeah, get involved!
American Marketing Association of West Michigan
The American Marketing Association of West Michigan (AMAWM) is a professional association for individuals and organizations involved in the practice, teaching and study of marketing worldwide. AMAWM hosts a variety of educational luncheons and networking events that give communication professionals the opportunity to expand their network, grow professionally and meet some cool peeps.
GR GiveCamp
GiveCamp is a weekend-long event where technology professionals – from designers, developers and database administrators to marketers and web strategists – donate their time to provide solutions for non-profit organizations.
They are currently accepting applications for local nonprofits for their next session. Their next event is November 7th to the 9th at The Factory in downtown Grand Rapids.
Faith Marie Losee Foundation and Oktoberfest:

Faith Marie Losee, infant daughter of Todd and Diane Losee was born stillborn on Friday October 13, 2006 at 31 weeks gestation.  She died of an umbilical cord accident.  Since her death, we have been determined that Faith Marie may have lived a short life but she would still make a difference in the world.

The mission of Faith Marie’s fund is to help provide infant medical equipment to neonatal departments at local hospitals.  Through this equipment, we hope to save a child’s life and give them a second chance in life, the second chance that Faith Marie did not receive.

Oktoberfest:

On Saturday 9/27/14 three running events will be happening, a marathon, 1/2 marathon and 5K.  So pick your distance, start running and enjoy your accomplishment when you finish.
All athletes receive a long sleeve technical race shirt (“oh yeah, they are sweet looking.”)
Marathon and 1/2 marathon finishers receive a medal and a pint glass.

After the race, stay and enjoy the music on the deck at Old Boys Brewhouse in Spring Lake!
