It is that time again, the time where 834 teams up with Shelley Irwin to chat with movers and shakers in the west Michigan community.
Just a quick reminder to all of you first time readers to the 834 blog (where have you been), Your Biz, Your Town is a monthly segment with Shelley Irwin on WGVU, 88.5 FM. The segment airs the 4th Friday of every month and focuses on local happenings within our community from a business, entrepreneurial and nonprofit standpoint/focus.
Our guests on this glorious Friday (hey, aren’t all Fridays glorious?), are Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, the Canning Diva and GR’s Got Talent. Here is what each of these great peeps has going on.
Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is once again expanding. This great law firm has been a staple of Grand Rapids for many years. In 2011 the firm moved into the historic Flat Iron Building with some great PR and media attention (yeah, we might have had a hand in that) and are now furthering that expansion. GR’s Got Talent will once again bring our community together for a fantastic showcase of the most talented performers Grand Rapids has to offer. Hosted by the Arena District, GR’s Got Talent is a multi-day, multi-venue, one-of-a-kind experience that you won’t want to miss. Starting with open auditions on August 3 & 4 at Peter Martin Wege Theatre, progressing to live performances at Arena District venues, and culminating in the Finale performances and judging on September 15 at St. Cecilia’s Music Center.
The open auditions are Saturday and Sunday August 3 & 4 and perfumers can pre-register on-line at www.grsgottalent.com. Once through the audition process several performers – along with top finalists from last year’s competition – will perform at local venues, including The B.O.B., the new Downtown Market, CitySen at City Flats, and Bar Divani to showcase some of the talent that will be on display at the Finale.
The auditions and finale are all open to the public and ticket prices and information is listed online at www.GRsGotTalent.com
The Canning Diva is doing it again with a fabulously creative and fun event for all of you ladies out there. The Diva is joining forces with San Chez – A Tapas Bistro to share her love of food art in the form of canning with Girls Night Out with the Canning Diva on Wednesday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m. Diane Devereaux, the Canning Diva, will teach attendees how the retro craft of canning fits into a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
