Some day, I will actually post this the day Your Biz, Your Town airs on WGVU, 88.5 FM. Until then, you will just have to enjoy my late posts that still contain great information on some amazing non-profit orgs in our very own community. I am always blown away by the work being done by so many non-profits in our community, and the following 3 are no exception.

Grand Rapids Urban League
This organization’s mission is to build strong families. We accomplish this by our steadfast commitment to deliver quality services, create changes which eliminate racism; and improve life chances for African Americans, thereby raising the quality of life for everyone.
The Grand Rapids Urban League was organized in 1942 and formally incorporated in 1943. The idea of a local Urban League began during 1942 when the League, known as The Brough Community Association of Grand Rapids, was organized to provide recreational and self-development opportunities for the Grand Rapids African American community. The Grand Rapids Urban League is one of over 100 affiliates located in 36 states and the District of Columbia, and is the second largest affiliate in Michigan.
Get involved.

Grand Rapids Family Matters
Family Promise of Grand Rapids, founded in 1997 as the Greater Grand Rapids Interfaith Hospitality Network, partners with local congregations, individuals, families, foundations and corporations to provide emergency shelter and viable solutions for families with children who are facing a housing crisis.
The mission of Family Promise of Grand Rapids is to engage community and faith-based organizations in ENDING HOMELESSNESS … one family at a time.

Currently the organization is involved in the Toyota 100 Cars for Good campaign and they need YOUR help. Vote for them on July 28th. Toyota is giving away 100 cars in 100 days to nonprofits in need! They need your vote to win – voting takes only a moment, and can be done right on Facebook! AidsWalk, October 13 at Rosa Parks Circle. The Grand Rapids Red Project has been doing amazing outreach in our community for years and is working to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDs in our community. On October 13, the Grand Rapids Red Project will host the 2012 AidsWalk in Rosa Parks Circle. Like any non-profit they need volunteers. If you would like to be a volunteer for this year’s AIDS Walk+Run, please contact Steve at: *****@**********gr.org%22″>st***@**********gr.org.

If you are a non-profit organization and have an upcoming event or just want to share your story, contact me at *@*******gn.com“>ki*@*******gn.com and we will schedule you on the show.
