The Best Ways To Wake Up

A woman places a letter in an envelope while text in the corner reads, "Send a card to a friend day"

We know, mornings are hard. The alarm goes off, you hit snooze a few times, you chug coffee until you feel like a normal person…it’s a whole thing. At the same time, we also know that in order to crush the day, you need to crush your mornings. But, who can focus on crushing anything when you can barely lift your head off your pillow to find your phone and turn off your alarm?
We’re not saying that our team is the best at mornings, but, we do like to crush our days and working harder than the rest takes some serious morning mojo. These are just a few of our team’s favorite ways to wake up.

Make The Bed:

“I fix the comforter, arrange the pillows and make it look neat. It has made coming home or getting in bed at night much nicer. And it makes you feel accomplished to do something first thing in the morning.”

Reflection and Gratitude:

“At night, I write down what I am grateful for that day and what I am looking forward to.”
“I snooze my alarm at least 6 times, and when I finally get myself up I pull an affirmation card from my deck to reflect on throughout the day.”

Move The Alarm:

“I have my alarm clock across the room, so as soon as it goes off I turn on the light and have to walk over to shut it off. Then I set a phone alarm because I will likely still fall asleep with the light on because it’s five in the morning and that’s too early.”

Take It All In:

“One of my most favorite parts of every day is my first sip of coffee. I highly recommend marrying someone who brings you a cup when you are getting ready every morning (I know, I am very lucky). Alternatively, some of the few things I splurge on are shampoo/conditioner/soap/lotion – the right products in the morning make it feel like a mini-spa session. This helps me get out of bed, because I look forward to that time.”

Start at Night:

“I don’t like feeling rushed in the morning so I prep as much I can the night before. Make coffee and turn the timer on, get my lunch ready, lay out my clothes, put my bag by the door…This eliminates that last-minute, hurry out the door feeling that can sometimes ruin my whole day.”

Celebrate Little Wins:

“I make myself a cup of coffee and try to get in 3 sips before the dogs spill it on me.”
While our team are the experts on their own mornings, actual experts have their own opinions as well. Here are a few of their ideas:

  • Drink Water Before Coffee- You’ve just gone 8 hours without water, you’re probably dehydrated.
  • Try The Inverted Snooze- Instead of going back to sleep, use this time to do something you normally wouldn’t have time to do.
  • Unplug- Experts recommend turning off your devices at least 1-2 hours before bed as the blue light can disrupt your sleep patterns.
  • Eat Breakfast- From a smoothie to a full-on brunch, it is DEFINITELY the most important meal of the day.
  • Do Something You Enjoy- If you give yourself just a few minutes to do something you like in the morning, it will be much easier to get out of bed.

So, there you have it. We can’t guarantee these tips will make you a morning person overnight, but maybe one or two of them will help you push past the grogginess and crush your day!
