Meet the Team

8THIRTYFOUR Integrated Communications is an award-winning firm headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, specializing in creating, executing, and measuring holistic communications plans that create lasting results.

8THIRTYFOUR was founded by owner Kim Bode, who sought to create the communications firm companies need: a creative, hard working, one-stop shop that doesn’t just create strategies, but also implements and measures them. We love going the extra mile for clients.

During the past decade, Kim has built a nimble, smart, fun, and energetic team, fueled by copious amounts of coffee and wine (depending on the time of day). We would love to meet over a cup of either to explore how we can help you meet your goals.

Kim Bode is the Principal of 8THIRTYFOUR, an award-winning Communication Strategy, Event Planning, Social Media, Media Relations and Design firm located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  It was inspired by Kim’s passion for communications and over a decade of experience in strategic planning, marketing communications, public relations, event planning, and community outreach.

A graduate of Grand Valley State University, Bode received her degree in communications and then began working as the Director of Marketing for the GVSU-affiliated start-up, the West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative.

Bode is a two-time Grand Rapids Business Journal “Forty under 40” nominee and was profiled as one of Grand Rapids Magazine’s Influential Women. In addition, she is a graduate of the Center of Community Leadership’s “Inside Grand Rapids” program, a 2009 and 2013 Athena Award nominee and most recently graduated from the Grand Rapids Chamber and Huntington Bank’s Rising Women Leaders program.

An in-demand speaker, Bode has presented on social media strategy, engagement, measurement and policy for organizations including the Michigan Association of CPAs, Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs, Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, Kalamazoo Chamber and more.

Somehow Kim finds time in her schedule to co-host the monthly radio show “Your Biz, Your Town” with WGVU’s Shelley Irwin on 88.5 FM the fourth Friday of every month, as well as serve multiple boards and committees.

Kim currently resides in the Grand Rapids community with her husband Josh and her six rescue dogs, Bentley, Sarge, Buddy, Sammy, Parker, and Phoebe. She also loves her rescue dogs that have crossed the rainbow bridge, Jimmy, Apollo, and Murphy.

Kim’s community involvement includes:

Jen VanEe President, Chief People Officer, Culture Master, & All-Around Marketing Badass

Jen is a graduate of Grand Valley State University with a degree in communications and business and is 8THIRTYFOUR’s token golfer (so make sure you invite her to all the golf outings). As the Director of Client Success Jen’s main responsibility is to keep the wheels on the bus. She assures our clients get badass work, the team has the resources and support they need and that processes are being followed.

She has over 10 years of marketing experience in strategic planning, campaign management, branding, event planning, promotions, and communications. Jen spent the bulk of her career working with developers, architects, engineers, and construction professionals; but prior to joining 8THIRTYFOUR, was running the marketing operations for a Fortune 200 company.

When she’s not making sure things are awesome at 8THIRTYFOUR, Jen is running her household in Rockford, MI which includes her husband, Tyler; children, Cruz and Quinley; and her neurotic rescue Doberman, Diesel.

Because being a boss, wife, mother and pet owner leaves lots of time for activities, Jen also does the following:

  • West Michigan Advisory Council, MWF
  • Planning Committee, WomanUp & Celebrate
  • Former President, American Marketing Association
  • ATHENA Grand Rapids Action Committee
  • Communication Committee, Cannon Township Board of Trustees

Jimmy is forever in our hearts as the best Chief Happiness Officer we could have ever wished for. He came to us as a part of the Senior Paws program, and contributed so much love and happiness in his senior years with us.

He is so missed.
