Our Favorite Outdoor Patios

Patio Season is Here!

With Michigan summers being so fleeting, our team spends as much time outdoors as possible as soon as the snow melts. We make it our mission to test every restaurant patio in Grand Rapids. It’s a tough job, but we are up to the task. No need to thank us: around here, it’s all about YOU.
The next time you are looking for a great patio to catch up on emails or enjoy a drink with friends, here are a few of our favorites to try:

Sarah

Every year I eagerly await the opening of the jdek at the JW Marriott! I love sitting on the water (there aren’t that many places to do it in GR), taking in the beautiful view of the Public Museum, and soaking up some sun. The service is always incredible, and they have a great cocktail list.

Emily

I love nothing more than chips, guacamole and one (or two) fresh margaritas. Sitting outside under the twinkly lights at Donkey Taqueria with friends is the perfect way to spend a summer day, and evening. I love all the different margarita options too! Always something different to try.

Alex

I love the Fulton Street Madcap location for two specific reasons. First, they have waffles that you can eat with your hands. Second, in the summer they open up the garage doors and allow for outdoor seating. This gives you a spacious, picturesque place to drink coffee and eat waffles without utensils.

Kayden

Sand, water, palm trees, beach volleyball, live music, and 100+ beers on tap. What more could you possibly want in a patio? The Score, hands down.

Chelsea

I love the The Knickerbocker – New Holland Brewing’s courtyard on a beautiful night. Even if it’s a little chilly, the courtyard is filled with heaters and fire pits you can cozy up next to, and they often have live music.

Kim

Graydon’s Crossing is my go-to patio because it has a mix of seating in the sun and shade, and awesome servers who don’t look at me weird when I ask for ice for my wine.
Ok – if we are being honest, any patio that is outside is our favorite! Share yours in the comments, or better yet, shoot us an email to schedule a meeting on your favorite patio to chat about your marketing needs. Cheers!

Something on Your Mind?

Running 8THIRTYFOUR on EOS has allowed our team to find consistency in what we do and given us a framework to hold each other accountable.

It's why @bodespeaks highlighted it in her latest @fastcompany contribution.

We put everything business owners, employees, and educators told us on the wall, and guess what... yeah, some of it was mean.

The point is, everyone is saying it about each other, not to each other, and nothing is getting fixed that way.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to have the Uncomfortable Conversation on the skills crisis, and whether you were there or not, let us know what the next one should be.

Defense and manufacturing run on precision, protocols, and deadlines. When a team miscommunicates... things slip, and the cost adds up.

Kim will be at the Michigan Defense Expo in Detroit on May 13 to talk about the Hard Cost of Soft Skills (or as we call them, survival skills) and what we can all do about it.

We always say work smarter, which means bringing in expertise you don't have and hiring people who make your team more complete.

That's what Kim Bode said in a recent @fastcompany article on building sustainability into your business.
