8THIRTYFOUR Skills Survival School
The generation entering the workplace now spent their formative years learning from home during a pandemic. They weren’t taught how to survive, fail, and navigate the hard parts of life. Now, as young professionals, they lack critical thinking, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Small business owners and managers don’t how to bridge the gap.
The solution didn't exist, so we built it.
The 8THIRTYFOUR Skills Survival School spans 90 days and uses an integrated model. We’re talking in-person sessions, eLearning to reinforce what they’ve learned, peer-to-peer cohort work, and a mentor from inside each company who checks in, answers questions, and will continue to support the young professionals after the 90 days. It’s built from what Kim’s seen over 20 years of business ownership (and from hearing others say the same things).
Join the Founding Cohort
We’re only accepting 8 people into the founding cohort. Instead of full price, we’re offering this opportunity at an adjusted investment. Just agree to provide a case study and testimonial at the end of the cohort to enjoy the adjusted rate.
It's Time for a Different Approach
1 Emotional Intelligence Assessment + 4 In-Person Sessions + 5 eLearning Modules + 1 Mentor from Your Organization
8THIRTYFOUR Skills Survival School introduces new concepts in person, backs them up with eLearning, and equips each young professional with a mentor from their actual workplace. They’ll be challenged to learn to make themselves indispensable to their current team and will report on their final reflections directly to their mentor. Did we mention there’s a dashboard so you can monitor their progress in real time? It’s all about accountability and lasting impacts.
Our custom EQ Assessment takes a snapshot of where each young professional is when they start the program.Â
We focus on five core areas:
- Self-awareness
- Self-regulation
- Motivation
- Social awareness
- Social skills
Each in-person session is held at the 8THIRTYFOUR Learning Hub and designed to tackle a specific skill young professionals struggle with.
- Session 1: The Unwritten Rules: professionalism and workplace norms, but not the way you’ve heard them beforeÂ
- Session 2: Say What You Mean:Â communication – written, verbal, and listening. The skill that changes everything.
- Session 3: Fix It:Â problem solving, critical thinking, and healthy conflict – because Google can’t do this for you.
- Session 4: Make Your Move:Â Everything they’ve learned, applied together. This is where it clicks.
Between each session, young professionals will take eLearning courses to reinforce what they’ve learned so far.
- Module 1: Before You Walk In: Sets the tone and introduces the overarching goal of defining what they want from their career.
- Module 2: Read the Room: Provides real workplace scenarios for them to practice navigating.
- Module 3: The Hard Conversation:Â Reinforces communication skills they’ve learned and introduces how to navigate difficult workplace conversations.
- Module 4: Think Through It:Â Introduces new situations that require critical thinking and shows the consequences of their decisions.
- Module 5: 90 Days Later:Â Revisits their career goal and provides a reflection before they present to their mentor.
Each young professional gets a designated person at each company who is trained as a mentor to ensure skills transfer to the actual job.
Survival School addresses the structural gap: we train the mentor. The company retains internal capability to continue development after the 90-day program ends, and employees have access to the 8THIRTYFOUR Schools Hub for ongoing professional development. This is not a one-time intervention but an investment in people, for the long term.
We school on:
- Professionalism
- Communication
- Problem-solving
- Conflict resolution
- Identifying opportunities inside the organization
and we make it stick.
